Cardinals Sign 22 Draft Picks

On Tuesday, the St. Louis Cardinals announced that 22 players from the 2006 First-Year Player Draft have agreed to terms. Included are the signings of three of the top six picks, the highest being the Cardinals third selection, pitcher Thomas Furnish of Texas Christian University (2nd round, 54th overall). First baseman Mark Hamilton (2nd round supplemental, 76th overall) and pitcher Gary Daley (3rd round, 106th overall) have also agreed to deals.

In all, 22 draft picks agreed to terms and are currently, or in the process of, attending mini-camp at the Cardinals complex in Jupiter, Fla. Joining players currently competing in Extended Spring Training, many of the draftees will quickly move on to help stock the Johnson City and State College teams, who begin league play in one week.
