Cardinals fans eager to check out the new Busch Stadium will have the opportunity when the Cardinals Double-A and Triple-A affiliates – the Springfield (Mo.) Cardinals and Memphis Redbirds, respectively – will compete in a “warm-up” game on Tuesday, April 4, at 6:10 p.m.
The minor league exhibition game will kick off a week of special events leading up to the Cardinals home opener vs. the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday, April 10, at 3:10 p.m.
“This game will serve as a ‘dress rehearsal’ for everyone – the stadium operations staff, concessionaires, vendors, ushers, grounds crew, broadcasters, umpires, news media and even our fans,” said Mark Lamping, Cardinals president. “We want our fans to have the best experience possible when we formally open on April 10 vs. Milwaukee. Our game April 4 will give us a chance to iron out any wrinkles in anticipation of Opening Day and the entire 2006 season, as well as give our hometown fans a glimpse of our top minor league prospects.”
Season ticket holders will receive details in the mail soon on how they can secure their seats for this special game. Tickets priced from $5 to $20 each will go on sale to the general public on Saturday, Feb. 25. Details of the Springfield-Memphis game and other special events in advance of Opening Day will be released soon.
