JS (20): "Hawksworth would have been a top five prospect for me after last season, but after another season in
which he missed most of it due to injury, he took a pretty big fall on my list. 2005 marked the third consecutive season in which the 22-year-old has missed
significant time because of an injury. The Cardinals have him on a throwing program and he is expected to be completely healthy by spring training. It would be
nice to see him at least work his way up to Double-A Springfield in 2006."
LM (NR): "Hawksworth did not make my Top 40 list because
of his continued inability to stay healthy long enough to pitch. He has pitched a total of twenty-six and one-third innings in the past two seasons
combined. That is entirely due to various injuries. His very high upside would have placed him well up in my Top 40 if he actually played sufficiently to get
a read on him for two consecutive seasons. Hawksworth turns 23 next March. While 2006 is not yet a make-or-break year for him, it is important that he remain
on the mound and put up some numbers."
RM (16): "Hawksworth is another player I ranked much higher than the other members of the staff. Labrum
surgery cost him most of last two seasons and he didn’t return until August. Prior to last season, Baseball America ranked Blake as high as No. 3 on the
Cardinals Top 10 Prospect list. When healthy Hawksworth offers the complete package. His best pitch is his changeup, and he has a fastball that can touch 96 mph
and he has excellent command and control. He’s the kind of prospect the Cardinals are looking for to keep them in the playoffs and is adept at getting
strikeouts and inducing groundouts. He needs to put together back to back strong seasons to ever have a chance to make it to the show. Drafted in the 28th
round in 2001, the clock is ticking on this former top prospect."

(32): "How the mighty have fallen! The guy with one of the coolest names in baseball has been cursed with injuries even
before Baseball America named him No. 1 prospect in the system just two years ago. As a result, Hawksworth remained unclaimed in December’s Rule 5 draft,
despite his lofty status among the Cardinals’ top prospects in the recent past. I view 2006 as the make or break year for Hawksworth. He’ll either step up or
head toward oblivion, not that pitching for New Jersey last season wasn’t close."
