Cross Giles off the Shopping List

In a surprise move that is not such a surprise after all, a source has confirmed that free agent outfielder Brian Giles has decided to return to San Diego. This comes less than a week after his agent said that talks between the two were over. Never say never!

Perhaps improved offers rumored from Cleveland, Toronto and St. Louis were not enough to cause Giles to leave home, after all.

He agreed to a three-year, $30 million deal to be announced Thursday, but does it really matter right now? For those Cardinals fans who may have been holding out for Giles to don the Birds on the Bat, you can now officially forget about it!
