Hanson, 24, finished the 2005 season with a career-high 97 RBI's (second in the Texas League) and 20 home runs.
The Cardinals named Hanson their Minor League Player of the Month for May. The infielder for Double-A Springfield, was named the top player in the organization after hitting .303 with 21 runs scored, five homers and 23 RBIs. In addition he was twice the organization's player of the day.
He was invited to the just-completed Arizona Fall League due to his strong performance with Springfield. In the AFL, Hanson batted .261 with one homer and 8 RBI's for the Surprise Scorpions. Hanson was ranked by James Renwick, Scout.com's AFL Columnist and other baseball scouts as the #19 prospect in the 2005 AFL.
In addition to all these honors, Hanson was a Texas League All Star this season and recently selected to play on Team USA.
Hanson and his teammates of Team USA defeated Canada, Sunday, 5-2 to finish first in the first stage of the Olympic qualifying tournament as the only unbeaten team. The United States (5-0), Canada (3-2), Nicaragua (3-2) and Panama (2-3) have advanced to the 2006 Americas Continental Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Havana, Cuba next August.
Hanson was drafted by the Cardinals in the ninth round of the 2002 draft out of the University of Portland.
