High-A – Daytona Cubs 5, Palm Beach Cardinals 0
(The Birdhouse News) Palm Beach managed just five hits, all singles, last evening and were shut out by the Daytona Cubs 5-0. Starter Mark Michael (1-1, 3.32 ERA) took the loss by giving up three runs, two earned, on five hits in five innings pitched. Lefty Sean Marshall (1-1, 1.20 ERA) won his first game of the season in his third start for the Cubs by throwing seven innings of four-hit, one-walk ball and striking out eight Cardinals. Marshall currently stands second in ERA in the Florida State League. Lefty Cardinal reliever Shane Wallace, newly demoted from the Springfield Cardinals, pitched an inning, allowing two runs, both earned, on three hits.

Shortstop Brendan Ryan and DH Cody Haerther both went 2-for-4 in the defeat . First baseman John Santor had the final hit to go with two walks. Ryan currently is sixth in batting average and eighth in on-base percentage in the Florida State League.
