The Cardinals have signed lefty reliever Gabe White and will assign him to Memphis (AAA). An official announcement is expected in the upcoming week.

White, 33, was released by the Braves in Spring Training after signing a one-year deal worth $600,000 during the offseason.

White began the 2004 season with the Yankees but struggled mightily. He went 0-1 with an ERA of 8.27 in 24 appearances. The Yankees then traded him to the Reds in July where he would finish the season going 1-2 with an ERA of 6.23 in 40 games. He recorded one save with the Reds along with allowing 39 hits in 39 innings, 12 walks, and 33 strikeouts.

White’s best season came in 2000 when he went 11-2 with a 2.17 ERA in 83 innings for Colorado. In 2002 for Cincinnati he was 6-1 with a 2.98 ERA in 54.1 innings. For his career, the 10-year Major League veteran is 34-26 with a 4.55 ERA in 562.1 innings with Montreal, Cincinnati, Colorado, and New York.
