The Cardinal Nation's on-site minors coverage

The Cardinal Nation's team of seven locally-based reporters, including returning writers at State College, Johnson City and Gulf Coast League, bring St. Louis Cardinals minor league news to subscribers seven days a week.

With one short-season Opening Day down and the other two coming this week, The Cardinal Nation is ready. In 2014, we have the most comprehensive and experienced local team coverage of the St. Louis Cardinals minor league system in our site's history – an end-to-end, first-hand view of the organization from top to bottom that is available nowhere else.

SC's Davidson

All three short-season team reporters, Robert Davidson in State College, Pennsylvania, Curtis Carden in Johnson City, Tennessee and Gulf Coast League Cardinals writer Paul Ivice in Jupiter, Florida, will be providing eyewitness news from all three of the St. Louis Cardinals short-season clubs all summer long.

A Cleveland, Ohio native, Davidson returns for a second summer covering the State College Spikes. He attends Penn State University as a Print Journalism major in the John Curley Center for Sports Journalism and is a sports reporter for the Penn State student newspaper, The Daily Collegian. Robert began focusing on a career in sports journalism as a junior in high school after Tommy John surgery effectively ended his playing career.

JC's Carden

A native of the Hampton, Tenn. Area, Carden has four years of experience as a sportswriter and is back for a second season with The Cardinal Nation. He started at The Erwin Record, an award-winning weekly newspaper based in Erwin, Tenn, and continues there today. Curtis also is a contributing writer for other publications in the northeast Tennessee area, including the Elizabethton Star and Johnson City Press, along with others.

A native of Chicago's South Side, Paul Ivice has been a professional journalist since 1977 as a writer and editor, mostly in the news and business departments of daily newspapers. Currently, he is a self-employed business writer for The Scripps Treasure Coast Newspapers and other clients, including The Associated Press. Baseball, though, is his hobby and passion. Over the past 15 years, he has worked as official scorer in the Southern League, Florida State League and Gulf Coast League, and as umpire for high school and youth baseball and softball. Paul joined The Cardinal Nation staff in 2011.

GCL's Ivice

Davidson, Carden and Ivice join our four reporters who continue to cover the Cardinals full-season clubs, providing local-based news from every US stop in the system. Along with player features, tips, transactions and injury-based hot news posted immediately throughout the week, these seven reporters will provide subscribers an in-depth analysis of their team's happenings on a consistent day each week.

Reports will be posted each morning on the following schedule:

Saturday: State College Spikes Notebook – by Robert Davidson
Sunday: Johnson City Cardinals Notebook – by Curtis Carden
Monday: Gulf Coast League Cardinals Notebook – by Paul Ivice
Tuesday: Peoria Chiefs Notebook – by Garth Shanklin
Wednesday: Palm Beach Cardinals Notebook – by Juan Dorado
Thursday: Springfield Cardinals Notebook – by Derek Shore
Friday: Memphis Redbirds Notebook – by Austin Reynolds

Full rosters for all of these clubs can be found here at The Cardinal Nation. Click on "Minor League Rosters" in the red area directly underneath the site logo and select the team. The Roster Matrix at The Cardinal Nation blog is being refreshed and indicates all 272 players in the Cardinals system by level and position. You can also check on the status of all 42 players drafted by the Cardinals in 2014 there.

To keep on top of daily game results and player stats throughout the entire season, our Minor League Notebooks, written by Leonda Markee, are posted each morning, seven days a week.
