The Cardinal Nation's local minors reporters

Garth Shanklin is a regular at Peoria's Dozer Park

Our reporters are at the St. Louis Cardinals minor league ballparks, bringing the news directly to you.

With the St. Louis Cardinals four full-season minor league clubs scheduled to take the fields for the first time in 2014 this Thursday evening, April 3rd, The Cardinal Nation will bring you along via our local reporting coverage that will continue all season and hopefully, into the fall. TCN remains your one-stop home for St. Louis Cardinals system-wide information.

What sets The Cardinal Nation apart is that our writers live in the cities where their clubs are located and they attend games regularly. They share their first-hand insight with subscribers on an immediate basis for breaking news and on a regular schedule for in-depth reports. Why settle for less?

Our 2014 reporters for the Cardinals' four full-season clubs are Austin Reynolds in Triple-A Memphis, Derek Shore at Double-A Springfield, Juan Dorado with A-Advanced Palm Beach and Garth Shanklin in Class-A Peoria. All except Dorado are new to the team this year.

Each week, on the following schedule, The Cardinal Nation subscribers can read locally-sourced team-centric notebooks. Our reporters will give you the scoop directly from the ballpark on what is happening with their club: player movement, role changes, injuries, who is hot and not and more – far beyond what you can learn from simply reading box scores and following blog posts.

With the start of full-season ball, weekly eyewitness reports from our minor league correspondents will commence on April 8. The initial week's notebooks will be free to all, but in the weeks following, they will be available exclusively to TCN subscribers.

Tuesday: Peoria Chiefs notebook
Wednesday: Springfield Cardinals notebook
Thursday: Palm Beach Cardinals notebook
Friday: Memphis Redbirds notebook

There's more!

Once short-season ball begins in mid-June, our local reporters in State College, Johnson City and in the Gulf Coast League will again kick into gear as well, giving you, the subscriber, unequalled end-to-end first-hand coverage of the Cardinals system here in the US.

Of course, you don't have to wait a week to find out what is happening across the organization. Each morning starting this Friday, our minor league notebooks, recapping all the scores and results around the Cardinals minor league system, will again be made available to The Cardinal Nation subscribers. Written by long-time TCN staffer Leonda Markee, they highlight the previous day's action and preview the upcoming starting pitchers every morning all season long.

Immediately, as player movement and injuries occur, The Cardinal Nation will report on them, either in articles or via our exclusive Hot News flashes. All of these news items, along with photos, interviews and more, are catalogued in our extensive player data base. There you can access years of history about every player that competed in the Cardinals system over the last decade – a depth and breadth of information simply not available anywhere else.

Also back for 2014 will be our popular Monthly Cardinals Prospect Report, again an exclusive for TCN subscribers. The top risers and fallers in the organization will be analyzed each month during the season, along with the naming of our system-wide Pitchers and Players of the Month.

As always, TCN's publisher and editor Brian Walton will log extensive travel miles crisscrossing the system this season. It began in spring training and will continue to Springfield, Peoria and St. Louis in the next week, to extended spring training, to fall ball in the instructional league and Arizona Fall League and every Cardinals full- and short-season club in between!
