Checking into the new prospect outfielder acquired by the St. Louis Cardinals from the Los Angeles Angels.

On Friday, the St. Louis Cardinals strengthened their centerfield position by acquiring Peter Bourjos from the Los Angeles Angels. Third baseman David Freese and right-handed reliever Fernando Salas headed in the other direction.

The "throw in" from the Angels side is much more. Outfielder Randal Grichuk (grit-chek) was taken 24th overall in the 2009 draft, one spot before Mike Trout. Ranked sixth among prospects in the Angels system prior to the season, the 22-year-old played at Double-A Arkansas in 2013.

There, the right-handed hitter posted a .256/.306/.474 line with 22 home runs and 64 RBI in 128 games. Grichuk finished strongly, named the Texas League co-Player of the Month in August. He hit two home runs, a triple and a double in the Travelers' eight games in the League playoffs, as Arkansas dropped the deciding finals Game 5.

The native of Rosenberg, Texas is also a very good defender. Following the season, he received a Minor League Gold Glove for his defensive prowess in right field.

Earlier in the summer, on June 25, Grichuk was in the spotlight as a member of the Texas League All-Star Team. In the game, held at Springdale, Arkansas, Grichuk batted third and played centerfield for the losing North squad. He went 1-for-4.

Joanne Bourbon, also known as the person behind Springfield Cardinals Fanatic Photos on Facebook, was there and captured the following shots of one of the newest Cardinals.

A month later, on July 28, Grichuk made a web gem on a play in right field against Tulsa.
