SAVANNAH, GA - If you believe in the cliché "defense wins championships" then Stefan Sabol is going to win championships and steal some bases along the way. Sabol was drafted by the Mets in the 17th round out of Orange Coast College. Now with the Savannah Sand Gnats, Sabol has struggled at the plate but his base stealing and play in the field is what garners him recognition.

"In Spring Training it [what I worked on] was mainly defense," Sabol said. "Last year was kind of my first year playing outfield full-time. [I worked] on getting better reads off the bat and getting a feel for leftfield a lot more. "I got a Sterling Award for player of the month for defense and that was awesome.
