Pirela is batting .323 in his last 30 games

TRENTON, NJ - If there is one guy in the Yankees minor league system who can be classified a seasoned veteran at the Double-A level, it would be Jose Pirela. After batting .293 in the 2012 season, he started his 2013 year slowly. There were times where his average was anywhere from the .200 to the .210 range in the first couple months of the year. Lately, he has picked up his game.

"I don't think there's been much of a difference from last year to this year," Pirela said. "It's just baseball and I realize that this is how it can be. "There are some highs and lows, there might have been times where I chased some pitches out of the zone, but I feel like I have much more confidence in myself and I'm finally starting to get into a rhythm again."
