Peoria Chiefs manager Dann Bilardello and right-handed pitcher Thomas Lee will be sitting out for three games starting on Tuesday, July 2 through Thursday, July 4. The two have been suspended by the Midwest League for three games as the result of incidents during the Chiefs’ 4-0 win at Clinton on June 13, the club announced on Monday night.
After a pitch from Clinton’s Oliver Garcia hit Chiefs second baseman Jacob Wilson in the head in the top of the ninth, Wilson laid on the ground for a few moments. Though he walked off under his own power, Wilson left the game and eventually had to go onto the disabled list with a concussion.
The Chiefs immediately retaliated in the bottom of the inning as Lee threw behind Lumberkinds leadoff batter Gaby Guerrero. The benches emptied but no punches were thrown. Lee and Bilardello were ejected.
