Cardinals announce new-look 2013 schedule

The St. Louis Cardinals will play 20 interleague games next season, including three against Albert Pujols and the Los Angeles Angels.

On Wednesday, all teams across Major League Baseball announced their 2013 regular-season schedules. Among them, of course, are the St. Louis Cardinals. For one-page printable schedule, click here.

The 2013 edition of the Redbirds will open their regular season on April 1 in Arizona followed by a road series in San Francisco before their Busch Stadium opener on Monday, April 8 against the Cincinnati Reds.

The Cards will face division rivals the Reds, Chicago Cubs, Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates 19 times each in the regular season. They will also meet former National League Central foe Houston for two series following the Astros shift to the American League West.

Schedule highlights include the new increased level of 20 interleague games as the AL and NL move to 15 teams each. In 2013, St. Louis will have a series against every team in the AL West.

One series to circle is when the Cardinals travel to Los Angeles to meet the Angels July 2-4. That will be the team's first regular-season action against their former star first baseman Albert Pujols.

Two-time defending AL champion Texas will invade Busch on June 21-23. The Cardinals will also play back-to-back away-and-home two-game series against I-70 rival Kansas City in late May.

The 2013 regular season will conclude with 15 of 22 home games capped off by the final weekend series at Busch against the Cubs September 27-29.
