With the publishing of the 2012 FOX Fantasy Guide / Scout Prospect Guide, the annual Scout.com Top 300 Prospect List has been announced, as well. The list was compiled by Scout.com’s national baseball analyst and former professional scout Frankie Piliere.
The St. Louis Cardinals made a credible showing, placing nine players among the top 300, including three in the top 35 nationally. The three are right-handed pitchers Shelby Miller at number six and Carlos Martinez at 19 plus outfielder Oscar Taveras at 35.
|Miller: #6 prospect in baseball|
Other Cardinals farmhands in the top 300 are right-hander Tyrell Jenkins at 92, third baseman Zack Cox at 113 and second baseman Kolten Wong at 127. Among the final 100 are first baseman Matt Adams at 208, and right-handed pitchers Lance Lynn at 212 and Eduardo Sanchez at 235.
The national top five, just ahead of Miller, are Tampa Bay pitcher Matthew Moore, Angels outfielder Mike Trout, Washington outfielder Bryce Harper, Braves hurler Julio Teheran and Mariners catcher Jesus Montero.
