On Wednesday, The St. Louis Cardinals announced their television schedule for the 2011 season. FOX Sports Midwest (18th season) will serve as the exclusive local television network of the team.
FOX Sports Midwest will carry over 150 regular season games, up from 130 last season, including Opening Day on March 31 when the Cardinals host the San Diego Padres. FOX Sports Midwest will also televise five Grapefruit League Spring Training games, including the exhibition game on Wednesday, March 16 between the Cardinals and Detroit Tigers at Lakeland, Florida.
FOX Sports Midwest will produce Cardinals Live pregame and postgame shows with Jim Hayes, Pat Parris and Cal Eldred for every regular season telecast on the
network. Dan McLaughlin, Al Hrabosky and Rick Horton will again call the games this season from the broadcast booth for FOX Sports Midwest.
In 2010, Cardinals telecasts on FOX Sports Midwest posted the highest local market television ratings in Major League Baseball. FOX Sports Midwest was the number one rated channel in the market on 69 nights during the 2010 season. Fox Sports Midwest-produced Cardinals telecasts are shown in nine states and available in millions of homes.
Ten regular season games are also currently scheduled to be carried as part of Major League Baseball’s national television packages with FOX (aired in St. Louis on KTVI) and ESPN.
The Spring Training and 2011 Regular Season schedules can be found here.
Editor’s notes: There are five other Cardinals spring games being televised on other networks that you may be able to view in your area, depending on your subscription package. That list is available at The Cardinal Nation Blog.
For those Cardinals fans that live in FOX Sports South areas, I have been told that their coverage plans are still in the works and are not close to announcement at this time. I will keep you informed as more information is made available.
